Books on Testing

Preface

Presented at SQE's STAR East Conference ("Software Test, Analysis & Review") on May 15th, 2002, this 16-page paper introduces the reader to a high-level view of Microsoft .NET, challenges organization members face (testers & programmers alike) in moving to .NET, and concludes with a look at ways to test ASP.NET deployed applications. Specific attention is paid to Microsoft Application Center Test 1.0, a tool included with Microsoft Visual Studio .NET (for load & stress testing), and the <TRACE> tag that can be invoked in a web directory's web.config file.

Note from the Author:
"Approximately 100 people joined me during my presentation to explore .NET from a test engineer's perspective. There are tools included with Microsoft .NET to help with black and gray box testing, as well as automating functionality tests and simulating high user loads. Consider this paper as a good starting point." — Tom Arnold
